Hiking

Hiking
  • Don't hike alone
  • Wear good shoes, many trails are slippery when wet
  • Bring food and first aid
  • Do not eat or taste unknown fruits or plants
  • Carry water or boil water from streams. Wild Boars waters.
  • Use a tent with a rain fly
  • Carry your own trash out
  • Bury all wastes away from streams
  • Firewood is not available or is too wet for use carry a stove for cooking
  • Hike with the intention of returning no later than 4pm and give an extra hour for the return.
  • Stay on the trail
  • There are no poisonous snakes or poison oak or ivy on Maui
  • Poisonous centipedes and scorpions are found at low elevations, but are not life threatening to most adults
